In the framework of WATERMAS project, the second workshop took place in the city of Cuenca between 24th and 28th of September 2018. Project meetings were held in the facilities of the University of Cuenca, with the participation of representatives of all involved partners. Workshop agenda was accordingly elaborated and discussed in advance in order to present the current state of the project implementation by each participant institution.
Consortium participation at the World Water Week in 2019 was analysed. Coming activities for the third semester of the project were also discussed and defined.
During the workshop week, consortium partners presented the activities and outcomes from project implementation during the first year in terms of international mobility, curriculum improvement and stakeholder engagement.
A steering committee meeting took place on the third day, where important decisions on project administration and actions towards improved project execution were discussed. A stakeholder´s meeting with the participation of the local water and climate sector was also organised, in order to disseminate the ERASMUS+ initiative and project results by the members of the consortium. Representatives from water and climate institutions in Ecuador (i.e. SENAGUA, MAE, FONAPA) were present and provided a talk about the actions and needs of their institutions towards climate change mitigation actions on water availability and, as general, on water resources. Besides the presentations, opinion of the stakeholders were gathered through different means.
A guided discussion provided interesting inside to the stakeholders´ interest in the collaboration with the WATERMAS consortium. Furthermore, a survey was performed at the end of the event in order to scan the opinion of the stakeholders on some of the important questions.
