On Thursday, February 21, in the city of Durán, Mr. Wolfer and Mr. Plet held a meeting with representatives of the Decentralized Municipal Autonomous Government of the Duran, where they presented their research work.
They had the opportunity to review the existing network in the city, this evidenced shortcomings in the documentation of this network, this situation was already known from previous studies. With the help of Angel Valdiviezo, it was agreed that measurements would be taken at significant points of the network to determine the current embedment depth and to incorporate this information into the resulting simulation model in QGIS and SWMM.
Alternatives were discussed to mitigate the flood in the city of Duran, like The Green Infrastructure Designs, the advantages and disadvantages were discussed, for example, the use of the newly built infrastructure in the dry season or an alternative design of the roads.
The realistic implementation of the plans was discussed, as the mayoral elections are due next month. The construction of drinking water connections in the project area is to be realized in the years to come. The planning and implementation of rainwater management should, as far as possible, take place together with drinking water work.
The participants of the Watermas project were presented to Gonzalo Menoscal, General Director of Risk Management of Durán.
