Mobility of Christian José Sanga Suarez to Ghent
The short internship took place in Laboratory for Environmental Toxicology and Aquatic Ecology, Research Group Aquatic Ecology, Ghent University, Belgium, from 18 July -11 September 2016. During the internship The student have done many activities such as:
• Tour of the laboratory facilities.
• Interview with Prof. dr. ir. Peter Goethals, promoter of the WATERMAS-projec to establish the objectives of the internship and the work schedule.
• Review of the technical literature related to data mining, elaboration of data-driven models and the importance of the development of models in the management of water resources.
• Application of advanced techniques for developing predictive models based on decision trees.
• Learning of scientific communication techniques prior to the elaboration of a scientific article.
• Preparation of a scientific article based on the findings of the master’s thesis and the improvements to the decision tree model developed during the internship.
