Mobility of Rolf Lelieveld to University of Cuenca, Ecuador
The exchange was carried out between 23 feb – 22 mar 2019 and the location of stay was Laboratorio de Ecología Acuática (LEA), Universidad de Cuenca (UC). The external supervisors at UC were Prof. Henni Hampel and Prof. Raul Vázquez. This student exchange is part of this join-research project and aims to establish a representative hydrological model of the Yanuncay river basin. The hydrogeological model can be used to examine the changing nature of the river basin and contribute to management strategies of the river basin. Also, the study will provide a hydrological characterisation of the River basin.
The visit was aimed to finalize the first step in the modelling process, the perceptual model. This model provides an overview of the hydrological interactions that are desired to be modelled. The perceptual model was shaped during the visit when more information got available. After completion of the perceptual model, the conceptual model was set up. This included analyses and corrections of the available data and a first time-series. The final deliverable will be a Master’s thesis to be completed in the fall of 2019.
