Mobility of Santiago Llerena to Ghent University, Belgium
The Centrode agua y Desarrollo Sustentable of the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) under the direction of Luis Domínguez Ph.D. and F-Block of the Laboratory for Environmental Toxicology and Aquatic Ecology, Research Group Aquatic Ecology, Ghent University, Belgium, under direction Peter Goathles Ph. D., through Watermas project, they considered Santiago Llerena, student of Change Climate Master, for a short internship since April 04 until May 21, to learn Soil and Water Assessment Tools (SWAT) and how to integrate Climate Change in Hydrological Basin Models.
The student worked with MSc. Jawad Ghafoor Ph.D. candidate in charge of development an investigation about the Land use evaluation, water quality and ecosystem in Ecuador, together learned how to use ArcSwat and its application, furthermore, sources of the input data, edit and homologate the input data, how to use swat editor for development the models and use de swatcup for the calibrate and validate.
The student also participated in the GOA project, mitigation of a pandemic in amphibious, under coordination; Niels De Troyer (Bélgica) and Lenin Riascos (Ecuador) in activities like; DNA quantify, take environmental samples, separate macroinvertebrates, and filtration samples.
Under guide; Luis Domínguez, Ph.D. (CADS – ESPOL) and Peter Goathles, Ph.D. (UGhent), both of them part of WATERMAS project, the student he will develop your degree work of the Climate Change Master about of Climatic Scenario and Hydrological model.
