Mobility of Ronny Wölfer and Viktor Plett to ESPOL, Ecuador

Within the framework of the WATERMAS project, an 11-week stay in Guayaquil, Ecuador was made in order to meet the local conditions and the local project members, as well as to get to know the project area “Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems for Durán City” through site visits. The project area is located in Durán, an independent large city, which is, however, part of the catchment area of the megacity Guayaquil.
The aim of the stay was to collect available data from various sources (universities, offices and authorities) and, to collect useful data itself. All collected data have be filtered, evaluated and analysed about the task at hand. Always with the aim of showing local decision-makers the possibilities and opportunities of sustainable development. Sustainable development includes, among others, the Green Infrastructure approach and the Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) approach. Within the framework of this work, these approaches will be examined in order to determine the applicability of these approaches in the project areas.
