The teams of the University of Cuenca and Stockholm University are working on a common scientific article during the last several months. The article focuses on the definition of the surface area changes of the high mountain lakes of the Cajas National Park using radar images. The elaboration of the manuscript requires regular meetings from the two teams. The public enterprise of ETAPA EP, who is managing the national park, is also involved in the elaboration of the manuscript. “This work is important for ETAPA EP since it will help to generate baseline data to which later changes in lake surface area due to climate change could be compared” – commented Mgst. Pablo Mosquera from ETAPA EP. The two teams aim to send the manuscript to an international peer-reviewed journal before the end of September.
